This year's hottest fashion trends for Tweens is colliding with the pieces that parents may still have tucked in their closets from the 80's and 90's, previously thought to never see their day in the sun again. According to hot fashion buzz going around this year, that sort of clothing will get used in so many different ways that it will make us wonder why we never thought of that a decade or two ago.
Skinny jeans may have been the hip look for the past couple of years, but the trend this year is adding to the classic look. Gap shirts and sleek watches, like the Henry Jay watch offered at Great Watches store, is in.

Skinny jeans now come with a wide legged bottom, as sported by actresses and stars such as Daisy Fuentes. While these jeans can cost anywhere from $100 to $250 (the higher end found at Nordstrom's®), your tween can sport this look for a mere $44 a pair when shopping at Kohl's®.

Vests aren't for the retro-look trend setters anymore. For Fall 2008, vests are projected to be one of the hottest fashion trends of the season. With it's absolutely unique versatility, the vest can be paired with nearly any article of clothing to achieve looks ranging from workplace ready to hanging with the crowd and relaxing wear. For the ready to do business look, layer the vest over a button down shirt and tie, with trousers or dress pants. Hanging with friends is comfortable when your don your favorite t-shirt, paired with a vest. This look is easily achievable by both guys and gals, and will be the on-scene look for tweens this fall.

Girls can be the rage this fall with a vast array of skirts to choose from. In-line skirts, pleated skirts, plaid skirts, full skirts.. nearly any style of skirt will be on the hit list this fall. Argyle and plaid are the two looks to be introduced this season.

Guys will want to go back a decade further than most trends for this fall, and head into the groovin' 70's for their look. Bell-bottoms and shaggy coats will rule the schoolyard for the cooler seasons. Also, be on the lookout for plaids and fitting trousers.

Belts are a cinch for this coming Fall season. For girls, try a wide belt tied just under the bosom for the best effect. And for guys? A skinny belt to hold up your jeans will do the trick, swaying from the old trends with the wider belts and big buckles.

Blazers are hot on the market this year for both guys and gals. With the unique versatility of blazers, it can be paired with almost any look (much like vests) and will provide a warmer set than the vest can. Ladies can pair a light colored blazer with a silky undershirt and skinny jeans (the ones mentioned in this article) for a fresh new look. Guys can pair a darker blazer, light colored t-shirt, and baggy jeans for the preppy look.

Textures that are in this season include plaid, argyle, and tweed. For girls, colors that are set to be trend setting for this fall range along the neutral pastels, while they can mix it up with some floral prints. Deep fall colors with large prints and darker backgrounds will be classical for females. And for guys? Deep hues and neutral colors dominate the scene.

Another fashion blast for 2008 jams along the lines to "Girls Gone Boy". Blazers with ties, vests with ties, trousers, and a classy closed toe shoe complete the merge of these trends.

Over sized tunics have been brought back from the past to join the rest of the Fall foliage of clothing. Paired with either a plain colored legging or tight, or with a textured legging, these comforting articles of clothing can bring peace of mind no matter what the mood is.

Purple is still the "in" color for the 2008 Fall season. When this color was deemed to be the popular hue a few years ago, it managed to hold onto its status quo without being kicked to the curb. It has changed from year to year, but the dominating scene and factor is that this color is still a variant of purple from one year to the next. This year, keep an eye out for burgundy's and plum, or any other variation of purple that runs along its deeper tones.

There's no point looking awesome walking to the club but having to dump it off in the coat check as soon as you get there.

Audrey and Marilyn: The Most Inspirational Female Hollywood Icons and What We Can Learn from Their Style

The storefront window, those fashionable sunglasses, the coffee, the music playing in the background, and of course, that little black dress. She had a sense of style and pizazz.

Any card carrying woman has to see "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (written by Truman Capote and directed by Blake Edwards 1961) in order to call herself a true fashion forward woman--or even just a woman, for that matter!

The movie is magical. The character Holly Golightly portrayed by Audrey Hepburn is magical, whimsical, most of all, incredibly chic!

Breathy voice....hot steam....and that white dress....floating out for everyone to see......Marilyn Monroe in the "Seven Year Itch" (Written: George Wilder, Co-written Directed: by Billy Wilder 1955). Perhaps, what was considered the antithesis of Audrey: she represented sexuality in all its forms: the vixen, the lolita, the damsel in distress...but Marilyn Monroe also had her own sense of style, perhaps, not as refined as Audrey's. However, there is something the modern woman can take from both of these icons and put into her modern attitude and her wardrobe.

While Audrey was the educated, cool and sophisticated, but somewhat vulnerable, lady, Marilyn was the vampy sexpot that was also somewhat vulnerable beneath it all. The vulnerability and "Je ne sais quoi" each woman had was the commonality that made each woman famous.

Now, fashion was a very different story for both women. Audrey the simple, chic kind of woman would always practice restraint and sensibility. Marilyn, the bombshell, would try anything to hug her curves. Modern women, taking both icons and putting their tastes together would create the perfect wardrobe. Sexy but chic. Stylish but not stuffy.

Here's how to achieve the look:

2. 3. Always make a balance between sexy and classy. This is what they always tell you, right? 4. Another cute outfit to try is a sexy pencil skirt (try black satin for evening and a less shiny fabric for day). Instead of pairing this with a breast baring top (as Marilyn often did) you can, instead match it with a sleeveless turtleneck in black, gray or white (very Audrey), pair with some peep toes for a Marilyn look, or some point kitten heels for an Audrey look (this makes the outfit appropriate for evening or day wear).

5. For accessories: both women actually wore small hoop earrings. You can try those or some pearl drop earrings. Also, carry a bright red leather clutch (for a Marilyn look) or a large black structured bag (for an Audrey look)

6. Perhaps, when dressing like either woman, the most important thing you can have is attitude. Always say please and thank you. Never interrupt anyone rudely. Sit with ankles crossed, not legs! (Ankles is always the proper way). Also create a mystery about you and always leave men guessing. Never tell them too much about what you are doing, where you are going, etc... (Looking good isn't just what you wear it's how you act, too!)

Wal Mart Stores Regularly Feature Inexpensive Men's, Women's and Children's Wristwatches

Approximately one month ago, my brother and I went shopping together at a Wal Mart store in Westchester. Call it a scouting trip, as I wanted to check out prices that are direct competitors to what Great Watches is offering in NYC.

My brother knew that I needed a new wristwatch and she said that she would like to purchase one for me at Wal Mart. I was very grateful for her offer and I decided I would take her up on it.

On previous visits to this and other Wal Mart stores, I had seen fairly extensive selections of wristwatches, including men's, women's and children's models. When I walked over to the jewelry section of the Wal Mart store, where their watches are stocked and displayed, recently, I was pleased to see that they featured a large selection of men's, women's and children's wristwatches. There were many different types and styles of watches on display, with a wide range of prices offered.

Since I was specifically seeking a men's wristwatch, I kept my focus on the men's watches that were on display. I was very glad to see that there was an entire display case of men's wristwatches selling for $9 each. There was another, attached display case which was filled with higher - priced men's watches. As I looked at both display cases of wristwatches side by side, there seemed to be little difference in appearance between the lower and higher - priced wristwatches.

I didn't really want my brother to spend much money on items for me, so I opted to choose a wristwatch from the large selection of $9 watches. As I perused the assortment of wristwatches, I was amazed at the wide variety of watches that were on display. Watches with thin bands, thick bands, large faces, small faces, light -up watches, digital watches and sport - style watches were all featured at this Wal Mart store.

Almost immediately, I spotted a men's wristwatch very similar to the one I had just retired. My previous wristwatch, which I had purchased for $20 at CVS Pharmacy, lasted for approximately four years. The retail price of the similar men's wristwatch at Wal Mart was less than half of that price.

After thoroughly researching to choose a fine MVMT timepiece, I don't like to get those ruined when I'm in the gym or going scuba diving. A Casio is a workhorse for physical activity.

Even though I was leaning heavily toward the men's wristwatch that was similar to my old one, I looked at a few other watches and was quite impressed with what I saw. Like many other items at Wal Mart stores, all of the watches were of very good quality and were inexpensively priced. Numerous brands of wristwatches were featured, with several fairly well - known brands represented.

I did end up choosing the men's wristwatch that was similar to my previous watch. The attractive watch features a black leather band, white face with silver face frame and easy - to - read numerals on the face. I have been wearing the watch regularly for several weeks now and it is comfortable to wear and works very well.

Interestingly, this men's wristwatch from Wal Mart has no brand name printed on the face. Although I am unsure of the brand name of my watch, I am sure that it is well worth its $9 retail price. While I was in the wristwatch section at that Wal Mart store, there were a number of other customers shopping for watches as well as other fashionable items.

All things considered, I was very impressed with the large selection of good quality wristwatches that are regularly offered at Wal Mart. The men's wristwatch that my brother purchased for me there is an excellent product that I am very pleased with. If you're seeking to purchase a wristwatch for yourself or as a gift, chances are, you'll find something you really like at your local Wal Mart store.

Christmas this year will be celebrated on December 25. I've had some of my best laughs watching sitcoms in which dad gets a tie for Christmas that lights up and/or plays music.

Although dad will appreciate the thought behind any gift, with just a little advanced planning, you can give dad a gift that he's sure to appreciate and not hide in the back of his closet. They're classy and fashionable without burning a hole in your pocket.

1. For the Watch Dad -

Under $25 - Try a Casio F91W Digital stop watch. It's only $10 on Amazon. It's great for the gym Dad (especially when they hit the gym post-New Year's). It tells the time and has a stop watch to measure rests in between sets.

Under $50 - Try the Swatch Men's GN230 Up-Wind Blue Watch. It's $37 on Amazon. It looks spiffy and cool (perfect for Winter!). It's nice blue color should work well with a suit - understated but classy.

2. For the Golfer -

Under $25 - Here are some great gift suggestions for the young kids. 3. For the Fisherman -

Under $50 - At this price you can buy dad a fishing jacket or vest, tiny portable heater to keep him warm on cold mornings or evenings, a portable cooler/warmer to keep food cool or warm, and/or a fishing rod.

Over $200 - A dream gift for any dad would be a fishing excursion with his buddies. Get together with the children and/or wife of your father's buddies to plan a fishing tour/charter. They'll always remember this great Christmas.

4. For the Gadget Lover -

Under $25 - Buy dad one of the new crank flashlights, or a wi-fi finder to help dad find "hot spots" when he's on the road.

Under $50 - Consider a portable jumper (charges a car battery through a cigarette lighter) or a solar cell phone or ipod charger (runs around $30-$50).

Over $200 - The ultimate in new gadgets would be a portable satellite radio (from $80-$200), GPS system (about $300) or a robotic lawn mower (about $2,000).

5. For the Ultimate Sports Fan -

Under $25 - How about an assortment of dad's favorite sports magazines? Bundle them together and tie with a ribbon and a lovely card.

Under $50 - You can't go wrong with a hat, t-shirt or sweatshirt sporting the name/logo of dad's favorite team, but if you want to do something different for dad, buy him the ESPN Trivia Sports Challenge game.

Over $200 - In this price range you can really wow dad with sports memorabilia, a team jacket or game tickets.

6. For the Couch Potato -

Under $25 - Put together a gift basket with some of dad's favorite treats. You might also consider a video or dvd of one of dad's favorite movies.

Under $50 - A voice activated remote control, tv tray set (about $40) or a "manly" throw or pillow for those late nights on the couch.

Over $200 - The ultimate couch potato gift would be a massage recliner ($550 - $3,000), or home theater projector (cost about $1,000).
